Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) Turns To Be Beast Eating Market Shares of Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) And Other Rivals

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) surged 2.74% to close at $13.49 with the total traded volume of 35.78 Million shares. AMD reported that Radeon Pro Duo (Polaris) – Double Polaris for Content Creation, Back in 2016 AMD launched the Radeon Pro Duo, an interesting take on a semi-pro workstation card. As a dual-GPU Fiji card wasn’t going to be viable for the consumer market, AMD instead focused their attention on developing such a card for the professional content creation market, where the lack of VRAM would be less of an issue and the second GPU more of an asset.

The resulting card was best geared for a niche market, but none the less an important one for the company. Until now, I hadn’t seen any real statistics on how the Radeon Pro Duo was doing in the market or if AMD would follow-up on it with newer products. Now at the 2017 NAB Show we have our answer, as AMD has reported their second Radeon Pro Duo. This time powered by a pair of the company’s Polaris 10 GPUs, the latest Radeon Pro Duo is aimed at roughly the same market as the original, but with all of the improvements that Polaris has brought the consumer market in the past year.

The firm’s shares performance for the last one month was -1.53% and 4.17% in the previous week, whereas year to date performance was calculated 18.96%. Hot And Soar Facts About NASDAQ:AMD,Read Full Report Here

Intel (INTC) declared that it is collaborating with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) on a $4.125 million research program designed to increase their understanding of visual cloud capabilities given that the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G are going to be driving a whole lot more video experiences in the future.Visual data is probably the single largest form of data in terms of the amount of bits allocated, and over half of all the mobile data in the world is visual data, mostly video but some images and audio.

New types of experiences, such as augmented reality, virtual reality and panoramic video require new capabilities in terms of system architectures and data processing techniques. In addition, as 5G rolls out over the next 10 years or so, it will increase interactive experiences. “5G has those great characteristics of low latency and high bandwidth in mobile environments and that will enable a whole new set of applications as well,” said Jim Blakley, general manager of Intel’s Visual Cloud Division.
